We especially enjoyed learning the Preamble to the Constitution in sign language. I count this book as being responsible for leading my children and me into a passion for American History in our homeschool! This Christian guidebook outlines lessons based on excellent literature or "living" books from the Vikings to the Civil War. What a great way to learn—through true stories! Daily lesson plans incorporate the "Principle Approach" at an easily understood level, assigning parent read-aloud pages in the literature books, plus providing activities such as poetry, geography, character studies, biblical principles, and much more! (There is some busy work, such as coloring in pictures. I replaced this with simple writing and creative art projects related to the subject.) The program can be completed in either one or two years.
