This handbook provides the solution! The 1,400 words most frequently used by kindergarten through second graders are included, which accounts for 90% of their writing needs. Many of those words are not phonetically decodable (does, one, are). Words are also grouped according to subject, such as numbers, colors, weather, and family. Independence feels good to a child! Paperback, 50 pages, for ages 6-10 years.

 view | Poems for Memorization I've been looking for a book like this for a long time! Divided into grade levels, from first to tenth grade, there are over 200 poems especially for Christian children to enjoy and memorize. The poems for younger grades are in larger print, making them easier to read. Poetry themes include nature, good character, and faith in God. The poem "Speak Gently" was worth the price of the book for me! Paperback, 200 pages.
Speak Gently
by David Bates
Speak gently! It is better far
To rule by love, than fear
Speak gently,let not harsh words mar
The good we might do here!
Speak gently to the little child!
Its love be sure to gain;
Teach it in accents soft and mild:
It may not long remain.
Speak gently to the young, for they
Will have enough to bear
Pass through this life as best they may,
'Tis full of anxious care!
Speak gently to the aged one,
Grieve not the care-worn heart;
The sands of life are nearly run,
Let such in peace depart!

That is why this unique dictionary defines every word in the original language and it's biblical meaning. Try looking up such words as "education" or "marriage," and you'll be amazed at how diluted the meanings have become in our modern dictionaries. An excellent resource for the homeschool. 2000 pages, hardcover, all ages.
